About Multi-alignment
ClustalW is a general purpose multiple sequence alignment program for nucleotide or protein sequences. It produces biologically meaningful multiple sequence alignments of divergent sequences. It calculates the best match for the selected sequences, and lines them up so that the identities, similarities and differences can be seen. Evolutionary relationships can be browsed via the phylogenetic tree builder as mentioned below. |
| Input data
The input may come from the same sources as in the BLAST tool:
- The data from your personalized WorkSet.
- Type/paste the whole sequence.
- Load from a FASTA file in your computer.

| Parameter settings
You can change these parameters to speed up the alignment. Each parameter is followed by a short description.

About the result page
Multi-alignments are handled by supercomputers in BIG for high-performance data computation. As one alignment may take some time, the result page will refresh every three seconds. You can take this a break and to have a cup of coffee. Once the comparison is over, you can download the result file onto your computer. |
